From the blueprints to the final punch list David Crabtree provided a career’s worth of experience through the planning, execution, and final stages of building. David allowed us to create a true custom home that met the needs of our family while closely advising us on the quality choices that make our home structurally sound, materials that last the test of time, and a house design that seamlessly works with our lot’s scale and function. David’s pricing and timelines were transparent and well communicated. David’s risk/mitigation strategy during 2020 protected our move-in timeline without sacrificing the quality of our home which was a significant benefit to our family and to our investment.
David and his top-notch subcontractors took the time and effort to involve me as much as I desired. We have built and remodeled a couple of houses, so this forever home, custom build was truly one I wanted to experience from a designer’s perspective and David was amendable to involving me in the details. All of David’s suppliers were exceptionally friendly, highly experienced, and readily available with advice on a large variety of products, manufacturer warranty information. All of David’s subcontractors and suppliers love working with David and only had glowing recommendations of his work which gave us the assurance that we were paired with the right industry experts. Even two years later, I continuously realize the benefits of our well thought out house plan, lot site plan, and roughed in plumbing/electrical as our family continues to live and work in our home. When we added a generator, electric home car charger, finished basement workshop, all of our infrastructure was available and well planned without having to modify or upgrade saving us time and money. "Treat You Like Family"David Crabtree built our home that we moved into in August of 2022. This was the third home we built and we had a good idea of what we wanted. David was still able to suggest design features while in the architectural stage that enhanced our plan, creating a space that was more functional for our needs. Throughout the build, David was there to offer his experience and guidance regarding everything from paint and stain colors to countertop selection and flooring materials. He and his team really treat you like family and were attentive to our every need both during and after completion. We could not be more pleased with our home.

Communication Is KeyDavid Crabtree built our house in Durham, NC in 2004 while we still lived in Milwaukee, WI. Building from a distance is always a concern, but David took very good care of us. He really listened when we described our specifications and choices, and he kept in constant touch with us via emails, pictures and phone calls. We were delighted with the result. We now have a beautiful Frank Lloyd Wright style house. David has done three remodeling projects on this house for us over the past 6 years, adding a sunroom, an enclosed patio and Frank Lloyd Wright molding in the 2-story foyer and living room. These projects look completely seamless, as if they were here when the house was built. This was particularly impressive when the sunroom and partially covered patio required changes to the rooflines. David has always been easy to work with. He is a good communicator and listener. We feel very fortunate that he is our builder, and we recommend him highly.

Great ReputationDavid Crabtree was the builder for our home that we moved into in 1998. This was the first home we had built and we interviewed many builders and David’s name kept coming up. Once the home was complete David was always available for assistance and consultation for needs. Several years ago we had some thoughts about expanding our outside patio area. We immediately turned to David for his input and he took on the project with great interest. We are very pleased with our backyard living space that has allowed us to spend more time outside during the (mostly) wonderful NC weather.

Years of ExperienceIn 1995, I interviewed builders to custom build our house asking each the same questions. How long have you been building houses? How do you compare yourself to other builders? And other questions. What I found was David had many years of experience both as a carpenter, working for one of the premier custom builders, and in business for himself. At the time David was building about 4 to 5 custom built homes per year, which I liked because he had the time to oversee and visit each site every day or two. Once I contracted with David, he worked closely with us during the construction process. David was easy to reach and communicated with us frequently. Our house was completed in the estimated time. When we met with David to hand over the keys, he provided us with the names and contact information for all of the sub-contractors (plumbers, electrician, roofers, etc.), in case any problems came up. In 2004, we decided to add on to our house. We interviewed only one builder, David. The addition was over 1,800 square feet including a garage and kitchen remodel. We lived in the house the entire time for the addition and kitchen remodel. David and his crew made sure we were minimally affected during the construction process. As was in the initial build in 1995, the house was completed in the estimated time. There was no doubt in my mind I selected the right person to build our house. Thank you David.

One of Our Many Repeat Customers
David built our home 20 years ago. He was the first and only builder we talked with. After the first meeting with him, we knew he was the right builder for us. He is very honest and straight forward and will let you know if he has concerns about anything during the building process. He even walked several parcels of property with us to see which one would best suit our house plans. He was always available when we had a question and was willing to provide options if we were looking for something different other than what was in our plans. Everything was completed on time. He also has a great crew; the job site always looked organized and clean.
David has remained our first choice over the years as we have made updates and renovations to our home. He has always made himself or his crew available when we need them. It is easy to recommend David to friends and family because he treats you like family. David has built many beautiful homes in the triangle and we are proud to say that we own one of them!
